Booster Pumps & Permeate Pumps

Note:
An RO System requires a minimum of 40 psi (Pounds per Square Inch) static input water pressure to operate properly. Water supplied from city municipalities usually will meet this minimum pressure, however people on well water should check out their supply water pressure. If it is below 40 psi, or if it fluctuates dropping below 40 psi, then they will need a booster pump.

The Difference Between A Permeate Pump & A Booster Pump:

• Permeate Pump: Affects the pressure leaving the RO system, it increases the pressure inside the storage tank allowing it to deliver water longer distances at a higher pressure & at a better flow rate. The Permeate Pump also reduces the amount of waste water sent down the drain by the system as it increases the pressure on the membrane which also increases the per hour production rate.
• Booster Pump: Increases the pressure of water entering the RO system, boosting & maintaining the input pressure to above 40 psi (the minimum pressure needed to operate an RO system properly). The higher the water input pressure, the higher the membrane reduction rate which gives you the purest water.
